Site Sculpture-Patricia Dahoui

Dear Pierpaolo,
My name is Patricia Dahoui. This is the work I made for the Site Sculpture. I call them my bacteria.
This idea all started when I started looking into the history of Back Hill. I realized there had once been a fire in this building. So I began researching into decay, moss, broken objects, infections, decomposition. I knew I wanted to work with a door and block it.
The works I started looking at were Surrealist artists like Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte. I wanted the door to look threatening, melting, different from its usual shape so there is no escape. I bought wax and I decided I wanted to change its structure. But because of H&Safety reasons I was asked to stop. I looked into the material I had bought and I realized how easy it was to change its shape with just the heat of my hands. I created ball like figures of different sizes which I later called them my bacteria.

Now thinking about it. I think I wanted people to feel threatened and disgusted. Maybe it was not enough bacteria objects or maybe it was the fact there were two other doors and they knew they had a way to escape. I would have liked to have expanded this project more.
